I've had a 4/5 year absence from writing/producing electronic music and wondering if someone can point me in the right direction for the appropriate software/tools???

I worked mainly with found sound and the transformation of using a Mac (OS9) Computer, Logic Audio and a hardware sampler. However around 1999 I took an interest in software synthesis with programs like CSound and SuperCollider etc but found these to be too pedantic for instantaneous/malleable realtime results!

Ideally what I'm looking for is the ability to transform sampled sound in realtime, record transformations and even animate transformations in non-realtime (similar to the event editor in Logic) and build up textures using traditional meter and bpm. However it must also have the power of CSound/SuperCollider etc.

Does anyone know of such a program or working methodology whether it be from using freeware/shareware or rip-off expensive mass produced ware for OS9/OSX

TIA

The logical solution would be MAX/MSP, but you'll end up with a learning curve anyway (and money out). But you should try the still in beta Plogue Bidule, it's in the Soft tracker. Same basic principles, but simpler objects/manipulation as you're not alone in the dark, there's less programability so easier and instant fun. And for now it's free… cool.gif
