I recently bought an iMic for my powerbook, but I encounterd problems using it with Cubase. I use :
- Powerbook Titanium G4/400 256 Mo - OS 9.1 - Cubase VST 32/5 - an iMic, connected via USB When the iMic is connected, the 'VST Performance' window shows a red light, to signal that the processor usage is too high. But the gauge only shows 5 to 30 %. And when I try to play a song, no matter how many tracks there is or if there are effects applied, the sound doesn't play right : the sound is cut every 1 or 2 seconds, as if someone was playing with the MUTE button ! Does anyone know what could be the problem ? Thanks, -------------------- Brome

I've made some more experiments with mi iMic last week end.
I've de-activated all extensions that could interfer with Cubase. Cubase now almost plays the sound normally, but there is still a problem when I record some audio. Other applications can use the iMic correctly without problems (I've tested with Feltip Sound Studio for example and everything is OK). But when recording with Cubase, the sound volume is very low, and each access (read or write) to the hard disk produces an awful noise, which is recorded too ! Is there any settings I should check in the Cubase preferences ? What am I doing wrong ? Thanks to anyone who can help ! -------------------- Brome

i had the same problem and concluded that it's the imic's own driver, griffin even admit to the problem of the imic's driver and latency. there is a web site that is selling supposedly a better driver for the imic, think it's called allusb or something but, if you want to do some serious recording through an inexpensive audio interface i suggest egosys u2a, i'm not surre of the model though, but it is usb, and my friend had been using it with cubase with no problem. i am, on the other hand, using logic with emagic's emi2/6 and it has been good to me too. so, good luck. if not perhaps try contacting griffin tech. support first, may be they can help you sort it out. besr of luck, i know it can frustrating.

Hi, I've had the exact same problem with the iMic. I got rid of all extentions that I didn't need and it still happens. It doesn't seem to be a latency problem because all other applications work fine. I'm still testing, but I will post if i figure it out. I'm probably gonna call cubase tech support sense I think the problem is in cubase. Let me know if you find anyuthing.

Okay I guess the problem is with the ASIO driver. This place offers a driver that fixes the problem, but its kind of a lot. Im gonna update cubase and look for another driver. http://www.usb-audio.com/
