Hi all,

I'm just about to invest in a small but powerfull home studio (Spec in my profile). I am a reasonable pianist with limited sound engineering skills who wants your opinions on a few plug ins.
They are
  • The Bosendorfer 290 Piano
  • Stylus
These are what my music shop guru recommends. Are there alternatives?

Thank you kindly in advance o Mac consultants.

(Apologies to moderators - This should be in the plug in section. How do I delete a thread?)

Hi Basher,

The piano plug in is more than respectable (I have used it on a couple of soundtracks and no one has batted an eye), Stylus is ok if you want some nice loops pre-edited for you and it has a good collection of single hits. If you want a more "real" sounding selection with greater depth (and the single hits arranged into kits to use) I would recomend something like BigFriendlyDrummer. Check out the sounds online web site which has a comprehensive collection with alot of mp3 demos.

Can also recomend Absynth 2 and reaktor for more leftfield sound and programming depth.

For orchestral sounds I have had great use out of the EastWest gold collection.

Happy Bashing.
