I am a total noob when it comes to audio, but I know how to get hardware working.

I just purchased a pair of Studio Phile Speakers, the M-Audio Firewire 410 and a Radium midi controller. I decided to install everything under windows XP. Got everything working with the latest drivers on the website.

So now I go to get everything working with my Mac where I will be doing all music production.

I install the latest drivers for the FIrewire 410 from the website.. restart the machine after install and plug my device in.

Lunch the control utility and it can't find the firewire device. I load up Apple system profiler and it shows up as a unknown device with a device ID. Does anyone know why I can't get this working? I have all of the latest Panther Upgrades and I am hooked up to a G4 Titanium powerbook with 768 megs of ram and a 667 processor... This really leaves a bad taste in my mouth...

what a wasted weekend for me angry.gif

Please help if you know whats up.. Thanks!!

Well I finally got it working..

Ya know.. first off. I want say..

Fuck M-Audio. The documentation is total crap for the firewire 410. I just wasted my entire weekend trying to get this thing working.

I finally got it work and realized what the problem was.

Ok. So I first got it workin on my pc. I then unplugged the firewire and plugged it into my mac, then powered the mac back on after i installed the drivers, but then the firewire 410 would not detect. Before I could get it working I had to totally unplug the power from the device and make the blue led's flash. Once they are flashing it means ready to load or connect, I then powered the mac and it synched up and went solid. Everything works now, but that is not explained anywhere.
