Ableton Live. (In my opinion, the best all around loop engine and audio sequencer for any loop based production) That will be the closest equivelant to Acid. (and, IMHO better. )
They just released ver. 4

Ableton Live 4

Garageband is also "Acidish", however it lacks many high end features and access to advanced parameters that I feel are neccessary for a pro app. It's a "cute toy"

...Since you do have PTLE, you should tap your Ableton Digidesign edition ( and you already own it. )

Garage band and Soundtrack (hi end GB) had their looping functions written by the guy who wrote Acid and Logic 7 will also have those on-the-fly looping tools. Live is good and can be rewired to PT if PT has rewire.

There are also some different progs out there like Twerk, RadiaL and Camel Toe amongst others that will do similar things with loops, some are freeware also.

Apple hired the developers of Acid, the result is Soundtracks. It can read acid files, and is the closest thing you will find to Acid on the Mac.

This was from a while back now so I am sure the interface will be somewhat different.
