New Mac Owner Needs Help, Pro tools, Logic Hardware help Options

I am a new owner of a G4 powerbook with 1.55Ghz and 1 gig of ram, my question can my phonics 8 channel mixer/preamp be connected into my stock standard Laptop or is a digi 002 required to record any audio mics, guitars etc.
