Well, what kind of Roland is it?
If you are talking about an older JX-8P type keyboard, you will have to use the good ole' fashioned sound bank carts.
If you have a fully progrmmable synth, you need a MIDI editor. Check Roland's website for your model.
I have a PCR-30 (Edirol which is Roland's other brand) and I have the PCR30 Editor. It allows you to set controls for ANY of the PCR30's controls; keys, knobs, sliders, function keys, whatever. You have the same capabilty, but you'll need to find your editor.
Programs like Reason can then be used in conjunction with your programmed keyboard to play triggered sounds.
There are also a number of freeware key-assign apps.
Check MacMusic's "Softwares" section.
If you tell me what model keyboard controller you have, and how it is connected to your computer (USB/MIDI? Converted?) and what software you are using to play your sounds (Reason, ProTools, cuBase, Logic, etc..) I can give you more specific information.

Maybe someone can help me out here.

I have an Edirol PCR-30, connecting through a ESI QuataFire 610, going to my Power MAC G4 through Firewire. I will be purchasing Cubase SE tonight, and want to know if I can assign samples from a CD, through cubase, to my Edirol keyboard.

Thanks in advance for your help.

By the way, my Edirol is connected to the QuataFire via MIDI connections.
