Hello all,

I run Logic Audio Platinum 4,7 on a Mac 233 MHz with 544MB, a 60 gig , 7200rpm Hard Drive and I recently bought 'Pluggo Plugins' from Cycling74. I have an Audiowerk 2 card.

The problem is, that when I get to about 8 tracks of audio playback my setup begins to max out. If I add effects, it REALLY go beserk. Results vary from bad timing , loss of of occasional track to total aural loss.

I want to upgrade to some kind of system whereby I can give the overwhelming bulk of the load to DSP's (digital signal processors)of some description. But I don't know what's available on the market. I know Pro tools offers something along these lines but then I'll have to switch to Pro Tools software, won't I? If I can, I'd like to stay with LOGIC. What about the TC Powercore card? The problem with the TC Powercore card, as I see it is that it doesn't support VST's which I definately want.

I'm grateful for any advice on what non-native solutions are out there on the market.

Did you consider Yamaha DSP 2416 ? Seems to work fine on most software, and includes a powerful DSP.

Happy New Year.

A new machine would give you the best boost.

You should be getting way more than 8 tracks though.
I was getting 24 tracks from my 8600/200 running Cubase and Studio Vision Pro.

You can use Logic Platinum for the front end of a Digi TDM system.

I'm now on a G4/400, my default is 32 tracks, and Ive tested up to 50 tracks.

As for running a boatload of effects, it depends on the style of music.

But I have never experienced any commercial studio that owns 24 reverbs, or 24 compressors. I never experienced any session at full-blown Pro Tools studios, where effects are used on every channel.
