Hi.. i am looking for the best and fairly easy software to begin remixing songs. Pretty much what dance DJs and producers do without the expensive studio setup and high tech hardware.
Was wondering if such thing can be accomplished by using just a PowerMac and some software.. or do i definitely need some piece of additional hardware. Many thanks in advance |

You can remix songs using you standard mac av interface, you should invest in some software such as emagic's Logic audio or Digidesigns protools, both of these programs have enough power for creating and remixing tunes, with various plugins that emulate the expensive studio equipment

Most of those remixers get their hands on the original multitracks of the songs. How can you remix without that?

It is true to say that when you are commissioned to do a remix, you are supplied with the relevant DATS, however for what you intend to do (without having the orignal multi tracks) it will result in the tedious process of sampling areas of the songs to create new loops, the other parts may have to be played out through an instrument, then overlayed
