Best Sounding A/d Or D/a Converters, Is it Apogee? How do PT digi002 sound? Options

I just got a Mac G5 and I use it for video editing. I am going to set up a recording studio and I need some advice. I had 3 Adats when they first came out and I sold them cheep then recorded two CD's on two inch tape to get the sound I was looking for. I am ready to give digital another try. I want to start out with very high quality sounding digital converters. Is Apogee the best??? How does the digi 002 sound? I also need good mic pre amps and mics. well as for mic preamps i have read alot of review on the manu.. GREATRIVER ELECTRONICS they have the best quality pre amps will i think check them out . there very expensive.
as for Ad/Da RME audio - have good coverters\ Motu do as well
i am not a fan of digidesign but it would work but i think there not future prof to many buggs.
check out RME-audio.com. Yamaha are very good , they have a all in one ad/da plus pre amp - I88x , they did a deal wit Apple and Mlan is being intergrated into there system i don't know if the new drivers are out for OSX pantha yet so make sure they are if u like the look of any of there products. Apogee is good
they have some new ad/da that won some awards i can't remember the name of the top of my head but yeah annywayz i hope this helps..

I,m using Digi 002 and I can asure you there ,s nothing wrong with that ,only that it is a little complicated to have everything installed but the sound quality is very good and you got a lot of good software with it ,unfortunately it is expensive
Ialso tried yamaha ,but got tired of waiting for the drivers
that made me a little suspicious
