From the reports I've seen, it's the same software, all thats changed is the name. No NEW features.

I've been using Logic Audio6, ES1, ES2, EXSP24, and EVP73 for over a year.

None of my songs require more than 48 tracks so far.

I will be upgrading to Logic Pro soon, to get access to the additional soft-synths, and effects.

Exactly - it's the same Logic, it's just the physical product line that has changed. It's goodbye Silver, Gold and Platinum distinctions (not before time, either), hello Express and Pro. Check the eMagic site for a product comparison list.

Logic absolutely rocks and if you have any of the virtual instruments as well, you've got a great setup. Small studios will get more than enough joy out of Express.

Close.. It's $699 USD.

I'm with gdoubleyou - been contently using Logic Audio 5/6 for the past year and a half or so. It all depends on what you're trying to do musically. If you're primarily doing straight up audio and don't require lots of effects, Express will more than do the job. If you need more comprehensive MIDI and virtual instrument capabilities, go with Pro. Like rickenbacker said, check out the comparison charts at emagic's site. And if you realy can't make up your mind, just go with Express and upgrade to Pro later - it's roughly a thousand bucks either way...
