Dae Error 6009 Was Encountered, ProToolsLE won't boot Options

DAE error 6009 was encountered
I'm so pissed! What the Heaven does this error mean? Do I have to re-install protools?

HelP! SOS!

I just finished my first song and this happens.

This is a hardware related error.Things to try:
-OSX is installed and used->restart and use OS9 only,
-Sound control panel is set to "Digidesign"->set it to "Built in",
-If none of this work->trash PT and DAE's preferences and restart computer.

HI these are the responses you get from Digidesign's answerbase which is available under the support option at Digidesign .com.

As Mr T pointed out you are best starting up directly under OS 9 but if yo uare already doing tha tthen at least one of the subjects from Digi's Answerbase should address your problem and show you how to cure it.

Pro Tools LE version 5.2 is not compatible with OS X, reboot off of OS 9.x and resinstall Pro Tools LE.



"DAE Error -6009" on a Pro Tools LE with Mbox hardware.

When the Sound Control Panel is set to Digidesign (instead of Built-In) other programs are able to use the Mbox for audio playback. Digidesign hardware is designed to allow only one program to use it at a time, therefore a conflict can occur if Pro Tools LE is launched while another application is using the Mbox (even the Mac OS can take control of the hardware).
- Setting the Sound Control Panel to Built-In and restarting the computer should resolve this error.
- If "Digidesign" is chosen as the output selection for another application, such as the software synth "Reason", Pro Tools LE won't launch and gives the -6009 error. You make any application that had been using Mbox hardware releases it's hold by choosing something other than "Digidesign" as it/s output selection.
Example: Launch "Reason" and change the output of the synth from the "Digidesign" choice to something else.


Error -6009 message when launching Pro Tools LE:

There are two steps in preventing this error message:
1) Trash Preferences. Trash the DAE preference folder, Digisetup and Pro Tools LE preferences.
2) Remove the Digidesign Control Panel to the Control Panel disabled folder. Restart.
HOW TO TRASH THE PREFERENCES:
Mac Hard Drive > System folder > Preferences folder. Drag to the trash DAE preference folder, Digisetup and Pro Tools LE preferences. Empty trash.
HOW TO DISABLE THE DIGIDESIGN CONTROL PANEL:
1) Mac Hard Drive > System folder > Control Panel. Find the "Digidesign" control panel and drag it into the Control Panel disabled folder, also in the System Folder. Restart.
2) Launch Pro Tools LE.[B][U]

I was getting that error every time I tried to play an audio track; in my case the problem was that the audio files I had loaded were on a Firewire drive (Pro Tools seems to have trouble with FW). I transferred them to an IDE drive, reloaded them, and I had no trouble from then on-- what's ironic, though, was the fact that I had bought the FW drive to hold my audio files...
