I kind of figured out there was some topics not welcome. There are enough place for it, i didn t come here for that. I was addressed on that point by the WM, i m not a proselyte, and i swear i did not inhale. An Apple insider from Cupertino told me this 7b85 "gold" beta WAS the OS X 10.3 retail version. Ther was not ANY change. Now he is not Steve himself and he could be wrong, but he was 200% positive about it. I suspect more a single app wrong behaviour than the system itself as it happened only once in a while, and i realize it seems to be gone since i updated to QT 6.5. Must have been some kind of incompatibility with the 6.4 from another one of my weird apps, i guess... Our problem is not related

Honestly no. I've got IE, Netscape,Netscape Communicator, and Safari. And don't tell my girlfriend, but I'm actually considering AOL. I jump from one to the other interchangeably and I do appreciate the different nuances. It's not an anti-Mac web out here, but to this newcomers' eyes, I appreciate that handmedown pc in the other room. I invest no money in it, only my Mac

QUOTE (lepetitmartien @ Feb 2 2004, 18:28) Now I see… a swap of 3 Gi EEEERRKKK How do you do that? I'm at 128-256 Mi all the time. Well LPM, i know that i sent u a pm earlier but i had confirmation in Applesinsiders GENIUS forum that anything up to 8 GB and maybe more of VM was perfectly normal in a unix based OS. (not only betas ) I say it here because ur statement could worry more persons than me... So again: How could YOU do that? Is 256 MB the amount of VM witnessed by the Activity Monitor? or is it just what u see disappearing from your HD free space on the course of your computer activity? As far as i understand, gigabytes of RAM are swallowed for VM from startup, and that shows up not only in VM, but also is allready missing in the Get Info space calculation. if you add up the size of every folder in your Startup volume, and substract it from the actual size of the HD, u may be well surprised If u end up needing even more VM, it will just start to eat up more of your HD... ...and that s when u can see it going out of its dark hole but for a mere bite... Hell, what a dirty job i ve done here, can somebody rename that thread and reroute it to the Mac and peripherals section?
