I agree with soif! Tell us more about your needs...

I personally would sugest a G4 466 and a Digi001. That would be a very reliable mid range price solution for recording audio and Midi...

Also look at the MOTU products. Good A/D convertors, very flexible I/O options.
New 828 is firewire, no need for a PCI card.
