440 Forums _ Peripherals _ Agp Or Pci, That Is The Question?

Écrit par : rony6464 ven. 20 janv. 2006, 23:19

hi, i just bought a Dual 450 mhz processor G4 powermac on ebay for some the purpose of recording music. i need to know if it's an AGP graphics or PCI graphics computer? how do i figure this out? the reason i need to know this information is because i just got a digi 001 interface and i plan on running my 001 on a Mac, but now i'm worried because my friend that just sold me the 001 told me that not all macs work with the 001! when i went to the digi site for Compatibility Specs i found out that older Macs need to be AGP Graphics and not PCI Graphic powermacs. I have an older Graphics model Dual Processor 450 mhz, but i'm not sure what kind it is? any suggestions on how to figure this out? i really don't want to have to get another computer! thanks in advance for any advice.

and this is a MAC question and not anything else!

Thank you soooo much lepetitmartien! that's exactly what i was looking for...if i had a PCI powermac i would have killed myself and the guy that sold it to me on ebay!!!

and yes, i know i'm lucky this is a mac site... i posted this same thing in the longlivethe001.com forum and the only guy to respond couldn't help because he's a PC guy.

thanks again lepetitmartien, thanks a bunch! i love this forum!!! biggrin.gif

Everyone is welcome! (shhhh don't tell this, there's even PC users around here wink.gif

Now OS-wise, I think to stay in OS 9 would be better… More power for you to use, or the computer will have to run behind OS X. wink.gif

Better yet, you can run the System Profiler by selecting About This Mac under the Apple Menu, then click the More Info button. Once the Main Profile screen appears, select Graphics/Displays under Hardware. One of the items shown is Bus: It should say whether you are on AGP or PCI. Lots more info available to peruse as well, non?
