Trying to revive and perhaps update my Opcode Studiovision DSP application. What happened to Opcode? Their web page is old and not maintained.
Will my efforts be worth it? If Opcode is dead, what is the favorite alternative? Thanks all! |

Sadly Opcode is a dead horse so to speak. Gibson bought up Vision - they axed the development and put one of developers in the loony bin.
It's probably true that he was'nt the most socially adept of people - still he was a brillant programmer. Gibson managed to destroy one of the best products around, because a neurotic CEO needed to have complete control over people, show who was boss over all creation. ( I forget his name - he seemed like a royal asshole ) Warner Bros/Time could probaly have written a complete Dallas series of the whole whooray and made bundle of it. It seems common that people like me - who used Vison for a long time, feel at home with Motu:s Digital Performer 4. There's been some development pains in the new DP4 version, but it's a awesome a DAW. ( http://www.motu.com/ ) By and large I heartily recommend it. True, Gibson deserved all the rants and rage they got when they killed Opcode a few years ago. I fact, Opcode - and its people - were a substantial factor in making Mac a great platform for making music.
And I too think that DP4 might be closer to the Studio Vision experience than many other alternatives. Still, I'd like to repeat someting I put in an older post: I got almost 50% off the regular price when I cross-graded from Studio Vision Pro to Logic Platinum 6. This was a month ago and all I had to do was bring in my original CD and manual to the dealer. Not bad for such an old program. Ce message a été modifié par renell - jeu. 31 juil. 2003, 22:01. |
