Josh Rosen drove the Cardinals down the field and connected with Christian Kirk for a 9-yard touchdown pass with 34 seconds left. A two-point conversion gave the Cardinals an 18-15 lead. The 49ers got the ball back and got to midfield Womens Adrian Colbert Jersey , but a bad snap over C.J. Beathard’s head led to an incompletion as time expired. The 49ers drop to 1-7 with the loss.Score update coming down the home stretchThe 49ers added a field goal, but the Cardinals responded with a touchdown drive that featured Larry Fitzgerald in a big way. He had a 37-yard catch to set up an eventual 13-yard touchdown catch. The 49ers lead 15-10 in the middle of the fourth quarter.49ers get in the end zoneAfter a hideous first half for both offenses, the 49ers managed seven. C.J. Beathard found Marquise Goodwin on a short crossing route. Goodwin was covered by Patrick Peterson, but once he got the ball in his hands, the 49ers receiver turned on the jets and took it 55 yards for the score. The 49ers lead 12-3 midway through the third quarter.Halftime scoreThe 49ers and Cardinals are engaged in a barn-burner, if by barn-burner you mean atrocious football game. After the 49ers took a 2-0 lead, the two sides exchanged field goal and San Francisco leads 5-3 early in the third quarter. We’ve seen a lot more from the 49ers defense this week, including an interception that set up their field goal.49ers defense gets on the boardThe 49ers are off to a solid start on defense. After pinning the Cardinals deep in their own territory and setting up 3rd and long inside the 5, the 49ers brought pressure and tackled Josh Rosen in the end zone. He threw the ball as he was going down, and it was ruled intentional grounding. Since it happened in the end zone, the 49ers took a 2-0 lead with the safety.Starting lineupThe 49ers are working Jimmie Ward with the first team free safety in pre-game warmups. This suggests he will get the start over D.J. Reed. Ahkello Witherspoon is working at cornerback opposite Richard Sherman.InactivesThe 49ers will be without center Weston Richburg due to a knee injury. Erik Magnuson will start in his place. Running back Matt Breida is active, but could be limited — meaning more work for Raheem Mostert. Richard Sherman is inactive, and will start opposite either Jimmie Ward or Ahkello Witherspoon.49ers inactives: QB Tom Savage, WR Pierre Gar莽on, CB Greg Mabin, C Weston Richburg, DL Jullian Taylor, OT Shon Coleman, DT D.J. JonesCardinals inactives: QB Sam Bradford, WR Trent Sherfield, S Tre Boston, OL Justin Pugh, OL Jeremy Vujnovich, OL Korey Cunningham, DT Corey Peters49ers-Cardinals PreviewThe San Francisco 49ers are coming off a brutal loss against the Los Angeles Rams and get a step down in competition against the Arizona Cardinals. This would seem great if it wasn’t for the fact the 49ers lost to the Cardinals just two weeks prior in Santa Clara. The team has not won a game since Week 2 and the Cardinals’ only win of the season came against the 49ers. For draft positioning, a loss would be nice but most would like to see some better things from the 2018 49ers instead of bad defense and turnovers. This will be an afternoon game kicking off at 1:25 PM. The game will air on FOX and you can see who gets it by looking at our broadcast map. Dick Stockton and Mark Schlereth will be calling the game. Jennifer Hale will be on the sidelinesThe 49ers are playing for nothing but pride at this point. While they aren’t mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, getting a bid would require them to not lose a single game. They are circling the drain in all aspects and now it’s a matter of the coaching staff getting a look at what they have for next year. For Week 8, the Cardinals will be without Safety Tre Boston. Wide receiver Larry Fitsgerald has been working through a hamstring injury but was a full participant the last two days of practice. The 49ers meanwhile will be without wide receiver Pierre Garcon. Cornerback Richard Sherman will be available and running back Matt Breida remains a gametime decision. Wide receiver Dante Pettis will be making his return after suffering a knee injury in Week 4. "It was just like a holiday just knowing I could come back and play the game I love for real. I'm happy that I'm playing the cards right off the field and on the field."The end of the suspension for violating the NFL's policies on substance abuse and personal conduct closes a difficult stretch for Foster that had him spending much of the offseason dealing with legal issues rather than preparing for his second season in the NFL.He was charged in January in Alabama with second-degree marijuana possession. That charge was eventually dismissed after he completed a first-time offender diversion course.Foster then faced more serious charges for an incident in California in February. He was initially charged in April with felonies for domestic violence, making criminal threats and weapons possession after being accused of beating up his ex-girlfriend.A judge ruled there was no probable cause on the first two charges after the ex-girlfriend recanted the allegations and the judge found no other evidence to support the charges. The weapons charge was reduced to a misdemeanor and Foster pleaded no contest to that in June.He was sentenced to two years' probation, 232 hours of community service, and $235 in fines. After dealing with all that and then a suspension, Foster is wary of being too amped when he finally gets a chance to be back on the field."I got to be real cautious about being too excited this week on my first day back," he said. "Getting overwhelmed is very easy. I do that every time. Even if you all don't see it, I do it a lot."Having Foster back Sunday will be key when the 49ers (1-1) face the potent Kansas City Chiefs (2-0). With Andy Reid's offense featuring a promising young quarterback in Patrick Mahomes, speedy playmakers like Tyreek Hill and Kareem Hunt and a threat at tight end in Travis Kelce, the Niners will have their hands full.Kansas City leads the NFL with 80 points through two games, thanks to 10 touchdown passes by Mahomes, and is second in the NFL averaging 7.44 yards per play."They do a lot of stuff," defensive coordinator Robert Saleh said. "They mess with your eyes. They've got a lot of different jet sweeps and movement. They've got a very good vertical pass game. They've got a good run game. So, you never know what they're going to do when they break the huddle and you've got to be ready, basically ready for everything."With Foster returning this week and Malcolm Smith recovered from a hamstring injury that sidelined him the first two weeks, the 49ers have decisions to make at linebacker for Sunday's game.Rookie Fred Warner has played middle linebacker the first two weeks and fared well in the difficult role of calling the defense. Warner has 19 solo tackles, three assists and a forced fumble through two games."I've seen a dog in Fred. I've seen a real dog, a mature man who goes about his business," Foster said. "I really salute him for that and pride him for stepping up and taking control of the defense. I've worn the green sticker and it's really hard to wear the green sticker. I'm really proud of him."The 49ers haven't said whether Warner will remain in the middle with the green dot on his helmet signaling he's getting the defensive calls or which linebackers will start. But with Foster showing promise last year as a rookie with 72 tackles in 10 games, and Warner delivering early this season, the 49ers appear to have the makings of a capable duo at the two inside linebacker positions."They're both instinctual and they trust what they see," cornerback Richard Sherman said. "That's a big part of this game, just being able to play fast and seeing something and being able to react to what they see. There are a lot of guys who can be smart on paper or see it on film. Going out and translating it is difficult for a lot of guys and those two do it as well as anybody."NOTES: Sherman missed practice with a heel injury. Sherman had surgery on both Achilles tendons in the past year. ... S Jaquiski Tartt (shoulder) and G Joshua Garnett (toe) also didn't practice.
