Please can someone out there please take me under their wing...
I am a tekno DJ and am in the process of buying a G4 mac...
My main desire is to make extreemely psychedelic tekno ...and was thinking of using metasynth as my base for sound manipulation..
Q 1)Is metasynth actually any good?....all product reviews I have read rave about it..
2)Will I find it very hard to use as a beginner?
3)A metasynth composer I am aware of uses a microphone to vocally create initial sounds ....Is this just crazy?
4)This next question will display my ignorance ...how would you go about creating loops on...say...frooty loops...and then record them using the same mac...Can two programs be run simultaneously?

matasynth is neat but IMHO its more of novelty item than serious music production. It can create some unique sounds and yes you can record sounds by mic and manipulate but the real strength of it lies in its ability to use graphic representation to create the timbres and such. I would much rather use something like Kontos myself to create original sounds especially by mic. I think getting the most out of metasynth would take a quite a bit of time as well. It is neat but I can't recommend as the only sound generator.

I think maybe you should look at Reason since you want to mess with looping. Oh... I don't think there is a Fruity Loops for macs either but I may be wrong. Yes you can run more than one app at once on the mac but depending on what app you use... you may never need more than one app running at once. You can always use one app though to create the loops and then export the loop as .aiff file and then pull it into another app such as sequencer to compose if so needed though. cool.gif
