Hello there,
I have just brought a microkorg back from Japan and, upon arrival, overly excited to use it, I plugged it in to my 240V UK socket using a shaving plug adaptor (Japan's voltage is 100-110V). Stupid I know. There was a spark and a little smoke and now the microkorg only briefly flashes the audio in and audio out leds when plugged in with a dedicated voltage converter.
What I want to know is, have I completely destroyed my microkorg, or is it easily repairable? What 'blows' when there is too much voltage forced into the machine?
Should I begin crying and looking for alternatives?
I tried to contact Korg, but their email website is down (how bad is that?). I will phone them in due course but the premium rate number deterred me and I figured that this website always provides better advice anyway!
Help!
D.
Hi!
I'm only running 10.2.8 and eager to upgrade, but I decided to wait for Tiger. Since there is no news (yet) of updates to my software and hardware (tracktion, tascam us-122, recycle) to support Tiger, I was wondering whether it's worth upgrading.
I know that when the orginal OS X came out, many people ran a dual boot of OS 9, enabling them to switch from one to the other easily. Is this possible with 2 versions of OS X?
If not. What are people's thoughts on the wait for updates? For panther, how long did it take manufacturers to produce support?
Thanks for your help,
D.
Hi people!
I'm a little confused (again!). I have a microkorg connected to a Tascam Us122 into a G4 12" powerbook, running tracktion. I would like to know how to control the Microkorg sounds through midi messages in my sequencer. I have been so far recording stuff live through the audio inputs and only recently started dabbling in using the midi connection. There is some stuff not supported with osx yet but still I have managed to use the microkorg as an external controller, mapping samples out. How do I do things the other way round?
Also, is it possible to trigger more than one sound on the microkorg at a time- if I make a track using exclusively midi, can I only use my synth for one sound?
Thanks for the help,
I love this site!

Hi people! I'm looking for a program that can slice beats and samples up and let you rearrange them. I know there are a lot of packages with this function- reason, etc but I have no cash. Looking for something free or nearly free. Any ideas? Thanks D.
Hi everyone! I know this topic has been allegedly done a thousand times, yet I have been scanning the pages and am still unclear on an important issue. As far I understand it, latency occurs when you are recording a new track and listening post processing through the computer. Many people have commented on how this can pose a problem, especially to USB audio interfaces. I have been told about direct monitoring- ie listening to the new track before it is processed but this has left me with some confusion. If I buy a USB interface and record a track, then record another and use direct monitoring, I should be able to play in time yes? Does latency become more of a problem when you start laying down 20 or 30 audio tracks? I don't intend to record more than 2 simultaneously but do want to layer complex songs. Basically, I am intending to tip toe into the shallow end of computer production with a Tascam Us122 and Tracktion. However, I am starting to consider (if this will inhibit me recording more than a couple of tracks without the computer screwing around) investing in a s/h motu 428 and start with Tracktion, maybe moving to logic. I also will want to have a go with some soft synths and I know these are a potential problem for recording. Please help us out! D.
