Does anyone know how to make a dual G5 tower portable? I am concerned about how sensitive these computers are, as it will be moved around a lot with my portable studio. I have some material to make a secure padded case for the monitor and the G5. I am looking for road-tested tips on how to securely and safely transfer desktop towers and monitors.

I have seen in the back pages of Electronic Musician & Tape Op magazines an ad for a roadcase for the G5 tower. I imagine that a google search could produce good results. Sweetwater & Harmony Central.com may help as well.

Whatever you do about your case make sure you either pull your hard drives out of the G5 before transporting it or put some foam in between the drives and the case. There have been issues with two clients in the last month or so who had their G5's shipped in padded hard cases but when the G5 arrived the cable connected to the drive was all busted. The only explanation I could think of is the hard drive must have been sliding back and forth against the tower. If your computer is going far I would probably remove the drives in the tower to keep those connectors intact.
