I wouldn't trust it. it's just 4 drives in one enclosure with hardware raid. Sure, it's 'portable' but if one drive dies, what happens? Do you have to send it in to La Cie and possibly lose your data?
For the same price you can get 4 250 gig hdd's and firewire enclosures and do the same with a software raid and be comfortable in knowing a drive can be replaced without any hassle.
