I have a 1.8 gHz iMac G5 with a PowerPC chip and 1 GB of RAM. I presently have Reason 3.0.4 on it. I bought the upgrade to Reason 4 a couple of weeks ago but have yet to install it.

But now Propellerheads have put up an announcement that "the performance of Reason 4 on PowerPC Macs is currently not where we'd like it to be."

Anyone on these boards installed Reason 4 on a PowerPC Mac and, if so, what has been your experience? I'd love to have the new features but not at a serious cost to performance. I primarily use Reason as a ReWire slave with Pro Tools LE and occasionally Logic Pro.

Thanks for any feedback.

I previously posted this question, but possibly in the wrong forum (Pro Tools).

I want to know if it is possible to use outboard equipment--for example, my Roland RE-201 Space Echo tape delay--with an Mbox 2. I'm running Pro Tools LE 7.3.1cs2 on an iMac G5, 1.8 gHz. Can I do it if I add a mixer of some sort (and, if so, how and any suggestions on a reasonably priced, decent quality mixer?)?

Thanks.

I use an Mbox 2 to record into Pro Tools LE. I'm running PTLE 7.3.x on an iMac G5 (1.8 mHz, 1 G RAM). I have a Roland RE-201 Space Echo tape delay unit--a real one, not a plug-in--and was wondering if there is any way of using it (or any outboard gear) with the Mbox 2. Do I need to get some kind of mixer or is there just no way?

Thanks

Hi. I recently added Reason 3.0 to my studio set-up and I'm trying to figure out how to get it to interface properly with Logic Pro. (I have 7.2 on an iMac G5, 1.8gHz. My audio interface is an Mbox 2 and I have an Edirol PCR-M50 MIDI keyboard controller.)

I set up Reason ReWire connections in the Environment and have gotten to the point where I can set up tracks in Logic and record from Reason to Logic Pro.

But I don't get a channel strip in Logic Pro when I'm on a ReWire Reason track. Is that the way it is supposed to work, or is there something else I should do to get a channel strip?

Thanks.

And, yes, I have looked at the manual. And, yes, I have read other Reason/ReWire-related threads in this forum.

I'm working through the Apple Pro Training guide to Logic Pro. I'm at an exercise where I need to record MIDI while playing to a click track.

I have a click track set up, I have the metronome button lit up, but I can't get sufficient volume out of the click to hear it in the mix. (I don't have the other instruments maxed in the mix, by the way.)

I have the volume all the way up on the click. If I solo the click, I can hear it playing, but softly.

I have no problem adjusting the click volume in Pro Tools LE relative to other instruments. How does one do it Logic?

Thanks.

Set-up: iMac G5, 1.8 gHz, 1 G RAM, Mbox 2, KRK Rokit RP-5 monitors, Pro Tools LE, Logic Pro, Edirol PCR-M50
