Hi
I've just read about the new Digi 002. I'm just about to set up a one-person home project studio based around my Mac G4 and was on the point of ordering a mixture of sound card, hardare mixer, sequencer sotware, MIDI controller keyboard etc and then having to spend a while, I'm sure, working out how to put it all together and make it work well for me. So now I'm wondering if the Digi 002 might be the easist and ideal solution for me. I will be making music by recording all the tracks myself via MIDI, from synths, samplers etc (except for vocals which I will sing myself), so MIDI will have to be the main way I build up my music, one track at a time. I will not be playing live at all, just recording music to either burn to CD or send out via my website or the internet. My questions are therefore: Is Digi 002 the right thing for someone in my position? Can I use additional plugs ins, like VSTis made by people other than Digidesign? Can I also hook the Digi 002 up to any outboard sound modules I might like to use, like Roland's new XV2020? Would the controller keyboard I buy have to have full MIDI control functions (eg. pitch bend/mod wheel etc), or does the 002 control surface have real-time MIDI controllers like that on it? It seems like a good idea for a beginner like me to have everything (bar the controller keyboard and computer) in one package like the Digi 002, but I heard that Digi 001 is great for audio but not for MIDI, so I just wanted to find out if the 002 is good for MIDI. Does anyone out there know about this please? Thank you so much for your help. JulietT |

for your needs you're going to be much better off with logic, cubase or performer in all honesty.
they all handle audio well and significantly, handle midi MUCH better than protools. logic also has a control surface, called, not surprisingly, logic control! -------------------- one for all and all for one...
