Lepetit Martian,

Bon Jour. I'm in Paris! Just for the week. Checked my E-mails using a French Keyboard! No wonder the French are so intelligent you have to be quasi genius just to use it! Anyway, I think you should change your name to the Le Grand Martian! Back in Hamburg, Samedi. France is Rockin'. Students, beautiful women Ooh-La-La, Clubs, Concerts, Radio Stations! I did not realize how great and culturally superior to US, UK and most other countries it is! Creative and verbal expression. Vive La France!

I see you enjoy your sojourn smile.gif

Regarding the keyboard, it's just as inadequate as the QWERTY versions (as I type in both, I can tell you). cool.gif

Forgot to mention it is a PC? Smil€.

Of course you use both Keyboards... You're French and smart!

Yo French People... Wow! Musically, Culturally, Radio, Television, Commercials... You leave my countries (USA & AUS) way behind. Just returned to Hamburg, Germany (Cool too, but... Not even close) Englander's... Please, love ya, but... a bit too much all the same for my taste... Great women though!

I lived in France for 3 1/2 in 1980. (That's right son, so just keep living and learning before you dare open your inexperienced mouths... ) I hated it then. But, 26 years later, France has arrived and surpassed anything I have ever seen or heard. Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Afro-Beats (Too many Beats to call it 'Beat'), Rock and that slick chic, French Chanson style that only you can create is just too much for one country to have. I am impressed. I can't believe I bragging about the French! I wanna be French! But, a Frenchman from New York, the one who really speaks French Tres mal... spells bad aussi.

I have been infused with so much energy in 5 days I have power for 5 years! Thanks. Paris... Ohh-La-La-Yo-Yo!

Ah those cute Londoners are definetly momentun stoppers.....!

However if you'd travelled 4 hours west to the land of song, green valleys and lilting language you would have found a burgoning DIY cultural scene Djs, Vjs, lots of young bands, outdoor party happenings , as well as the traditional Welsh cultural heritage.
Quite a link here to the Breton /Celtic music scene too ,with pipe bands and bourees on a regular basis.
As a refugee from London , (over 20 years ago) I've never looked back. smile.gif

Wales?! I know they have great Singer's, did not know Wales had a "Current or Commercial" sound?!

I also know that the great late Paul Robeson loved Wales... If he said it was great... I believe it, but, this was in the 30's and 40's.

What Bands or Artist are currently recieving 'Airplay'?

Super Furry Animals, Goldie Looking Chain, Kosheen, Cerys Mathews; Catatonia, Manic Street Preachers, Stereophonics, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, and of course their is always Tom Jones.

Apart from what is happening mainstream, I've witnessed a lot of teenagers to early 20 year olds doing their own promoting , (mainly drum and bass, but what the heck ). Creating their own mixes on laptops and they sit very naturally with computer music technology, having grown up with it most of their lives.
To get involved with putting on gigs in remote woodland clearings ; big fires, genny purring away in the distance, wild music and video and people. Lots of nice inspirational things to eat and drink, stars swaying overhead. Laptops pulsing with software....way to go !!

Hell, I always wanted to go to Paris, but this whole keyboard thing has made me worried.. unsure.gif

I was very impressed by the Amsterdam music scene by the way... people playing everywhere in the streets and in bars in all sorts of styles, people from different countries and musical backgrounds... it always makes me sad that I live in a relatively small city and have less opportunities for both listening and being part of such cultural exchanges.. but then I guess no place is paradise sad.gif

Well good people of the Mac Forum I must take leave of this once happy site otherwise I am going to say some nasty things to some deserving losers. Hope your Technical problems are few and music abounds. Peace. King...

BTW Amsterdam is good for Fine Women and [EDIT LPM sorry, some stupid French law]... Perhaps the S… Cakes made the music sound good... I thought is was a basic fusion of stolen and confused ideas, mixed with Hip-Slop. What band is kicking from there? Right. Great Jazz Festivals annually... Lot of fakes there too... Paradise is within Grasshopper.

Peace, King.

S...Cakes? Oh, well, maybe...

To be precise, I was there during the Queen's day festivities and a couple of days after, so I can't really be sure if what I saw is actually there all the time. Heard some interesting jazz improvisations featuring eastern instruments, some good blues, a quite impressive funk band and some OK hip-hop, though that's obviously not your cup of tea. That's what I can remember. During the Queen's day there was like a concert in every central street, so if my impression is wrong, maybe this has to do with it too. Maybe you're right about the bands, when I actually visited a record store I found few different things other than mainstream pop music I can also get here. But then, I had no dutch friends to advise me on what's going on, and the way I saw it there is something getting cooked up there...

Agreed, paradise is within, hope you have found it.

Grasshopper.

Especially there's Soif the webmaster (thirsty in French but also a word game on his first name François), he is coding the forthcoming version of MM, you'll love it! Clouvel (news), June Bug (HUGE work in the tracker), Babaille (classifieds) and all the others. I'm not the one and only, even if I'm one of the most visible. wink.gif cool.gif

We have started a Wiki too, there's a lot of definition to translate already into English, I have to do this one day… blink.gif But anyone can participate! It's a Wiki smile.gif laugh.gif

Maybe I should start a thread on "how-to" as it's under construction a lot still on the help side. rolleyes.gif

And yes, Macdaddy, stay around smile.gif we like opinionated people and knowledgeable persons.
