Hi

I have a Powerbook with an external Lacie firewire hard drive which is kind of noisy. I would like to buy another firewire external hard drive for working everyday with the Powerbook and use the Lacie for backups only. I would need a silent one, with more or less 200gb and it has to be tough since I will take it in my live concerts and dj-sets.
I thought about the Carillon Ad1+ but I´m not sure...Are there any alternatives ?

Thank you,

Alex

Hi

I've noticed this problem:

I have a Powerbook g4 15" OSX 10.4.4, a Lacie Firewire external disc, a Terratec Phase 24 firewire soundcard, an M-Audio Midisport 4x4 midi interface, a Clavia Nord Lead, a Waldorf Xtk, Yamaha Fs1r, Oberheim Matrix 1000 and an Yamaha 01V digital mixer. The digital out of the mixer is connected to the digital in of the soundcard. In Logic Pro 7.1, when I record the stereo out of the mixer thru the digital cable (spdif) into the soundcard I get cracks and pops. I'm always recording to the external disc (7200rpm). I've tried the Powerbook's hard disk and I get the same problem. Usually the recorded file sounds good at the beginning, but after some minutes it starts to have those cracks and glitches. And I'm sure they're recorded. It´s not a playback problem. I'm recording at 24bit 44100hz. I've tried recording second time and it had no cracks and pops !
Does Logic need to play all the song before it is recorded ? Do I have something wrong on my preferences ? Is this a bug ?

I've also noticed that when I use Kontakt 2 and I play a song for the first time, as soon as the song pointer reaches the Kontakt notes Logic stops with the following message: " CoreAudio System Overload. The audio engine was not able to process all required data in time.(-10011)". When I play the song the second time, Kontakt plays with no problems and the song doesn't stop. Is this related to the cracks and glitches problem in some way ?

What do you think ?

Thank you.

Hi

I have a Powerbook 15" 1.67hz 512 mb ram and a 80gb 5400rpm hard drive and a Terratec Phase 24 firewire soundcard.
I have installed all my software ( Logic Pro 7.01 and Kontakt 2.01 ) and started to do some recordings.
I was using a loop in track 1 , a EVP 88 with a tape delay and nothing else. I recorded thru the digital ins a 24 bit stereo file coming from a 01V Yamaha digital mixer.
When I started to listen to the audio files ( 15 to 20 minutes )they were good in some places and terribly bad in others with lots of crackles.
Does the OSX run some kind of background application that was interfering with the recording process ? Are there any tips to fine tune OSX in a Powerbook for audio production ?
Are my Powerbook specs enough for this job or do I have to buy an external disk just to record a simple 24 bit stereo file ?

Thank you

Alex

Hi,

I've bought recently Kontakt 1.5 and then the update Kontak 2.

Today I received my Powerbook and I'm not sure if I have to install the 1.5 version first or just install the version 2 update...

What should I do ? Do I have to install both ?
