Right now I own a 1ghz emac. I've recently been trying to figure out the best way to upgrade. My choices are upgrade to a 1.8 imac w/ 1 gig ram, or dual 1.8 powermac w/ 1 gig ram. Obviously the dual 1.8 would be the best bet, but it is quite expensive, especially when I have to buy a monitor.
My real question is how easy is it to link my emac to one these computers and run my music off of both? Can I run cubase on one and use plugins for cubase off of the second? How does this work?
Would it be worth it to buy the imac and hook it up to my emac? I don't really know anything about this area and it's something I was thinking I should learn before I make a desicion on what to buy. Especially since i don't have loads of money and don't want to buy alot more than I need.
thanks

I've been running off a 1ghz emac for awhile but it's just not cutting it anymore. It has trouble with more than a couple plugins etc. I can easily kill it running Ableton Live 3 smile.gif
Anyways I've been planning on upgrading to a G5. My question is, what level should I go to?
I plan on running several audio tracks and effects, and 2 - 3 soft synths, battery, Korg Legacy, ableton live etc.
Will a single CPU be good? Or should i go dual? Is the extra $500-1000 worth getting the faster cpu's? I'm on a limited budget so if I don't need the big badass computer I'd rather just save my money, and be able to pay my rent, or buy more synths.
Any suggestions?

Can anyone suggest a good program for drums? I'm looking for one that doesn't alter the original sound of the sample as soon as you pop it into the instument. I've been using Reason, but have recently got fed up with the poor sound playback. Reason has a bizarre habit of playing samples back and making them sound hollow. Maybe it's just me but I'm tired of messing with it and have just decided to move on.
