[SIZE=7]Hi, all.

I have a real bummer on my hands here.....

I purchased a dual G4 in Chicago, along with Garage Band (this was before it came standard) and the extra Jam Pack.

The Jam Pack really enhances the functionality of this already amazing software.

Well, I just moved to Los Angeles, and purchased a new Powerbook, but try as I might I can not locate the Jam Pack disc anywhere! I literally tore my apartment apart looking for it today.

I contacted Apple and asked them, since my invoice with them proves I purchased the software, if they would at least allow me to come into an Apple store and have them load the software directly into the Powerbook, but they refused.

They want me to pay another $100 to get a new disc!!!

Tech support initially stated that I could not successfully transfer the needed data from the tower to the notebook.

Has anyone proved them wrong?

I NEED this enhancement for GB to be as functional as possible....

I commented to the manager of the Apple store that their reluctance to help is the kind of thing that drives people to pirating software.

However, since I really did have the original program, and love it, I merely want to use it again, not pirate it.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Please feel free to contact me directly at KevinOnKeys@hotmail.com if you have any potential solutions. blink.gif

I would think that you'd need two licenses to have the software on two computers at the same time. I think your Jam Pack licence is single user. Anyway, mine is not to moralise.

AFAIK, the files that you need are stored in Library/Application Support/Garageband. If you copy that directory from the PowerMac to the same place on the PowerBook, you should get the Jam Pack on the PowerBook.

If you don't find that folder or anything in it, do a search through the finder for "Apple Loops". Wherever the directory with that name is stored is probably where the rest of the Jam Pack is (you may have to go up a few levels till you get to one called "GarageBand" to make sure you get the virtual instruments as well as the additional loops.

The easiest way to copy them across is to use a Firewire cable and target disk mode (boot with Ctrl+T pressed) on the PowerMac. Otherwise, use a network or DVD-R's/CD's. Jampack is a Gig or more so this might take a while!

Good luck.
