Hi...

I want 2 make the step, from OS9 to OSX...
Is it possible that I can get some trouble, using both operating systems, on seperate drives ?
I have a G4 800...

I hope it's allright, because all my works are in OS9 ....

The reasonable attitude is a little more complex than that:

- Have OSX and OS9 on separated partitions at least. They don't mix well together. Not at all.

- If you decide to have a classic for OSX, keep it on the OSX partition or on its own BUT don't use it as a regular OS9.

- The OS9 should be "classic free", trash the files with Classic in their name that are in the system folder, this way OSX won't meddle with it and won't see it as a potential Classic environement.

All this won't save you of all troubles but the most undeciferable will be forgotten.

I have a 'clean' os9 on my computer now...
If I add another drive...and install a "clean" osX...i should be allright? Or not ?

It's ok, but if you need a classic environement for OSX, you'll have to install a new OS9 near it (or with it) and make it as "sleek" as possible (control pannels and extensions) for the task you ask it to do.

LPM, have I got a whopper 4 ya.
I've had my mac 14 mos. now and Just figured out what dual boot meant after all rolleyes.gif
Now as near as I can figure, cleaning out all those files I had downloaded into Classic and keeping "Panther" devoid of anything but that designed for OS X, and doing any and everything I had been playing with in Classic only when I'm truly booted into OS 9.2.2 will allow my computer a "seperate but equal" status that will allow me the best of both world's?

Am I conveying this clearly? As much paradigm shifting as I've been undergoing with the prospect of having a "new computer," I may be typing, as well as thinking in, circles.
