I've botton one copy of cubase sx with my brother to do recordings with and we have two computers. We are working together i'm in berkeley he's in sac, emailing mp3 and would like to use the same program. We have one purchassed version(600$) of cubase sx and would like to use it on my computer aswell.
I see that you can buy more dongles on ebay but the seller dosen't know how to use the same program on two computers with dongles(sounds kinda shady). Are there licencing issuse with this. How do you do this if possible? thanks so much

I do not believe you can buy official dongles on eBay. I would be very suspicious for two reasons: firstly, why would someone sell the dongle and not the software and secondly, if they're not selling the software, how come they have a spare dongle when everyone else only gets one?

Unless the seller can honestly answer both questions to your complete satisfaction, forget it. Every manufacturer that uses USB dongles is EXTREMELY tough on people who lose their dongle. Getting a "spare" or even a legitimate replacement for a lost or stolen key isn't just a case of ringing them up and asking nicely.

If you bought one copy of the software, you get one key. It's as simple as that. You can possibly install the software on two or more machines, but you can only use it on one at a time.

I second Rickenbacker, it's highly suspicious. blink.gif

Turnkey are selling steinberg dongles too for £19.99...

http://www.turnkey.co.uk/web/productAction...rg&model=Dongle

they have no licenses attached to them.. in other words they are useless. - You have to download a license to them.

So you could buy a second dongle and transfer your cubase license to your new dongle. This would make your old dongle useless. You might want to do this if your dongle is about to fall apart or something like that.

It is the license on the dongle that lets you use Cubase, not just the dongle itself. You would buy one of these blank dongles if you were upgrading a steinberg product that came with no dongle to a version that requires a dongle.. i.e. Wavelab 6 requires a dongle, whereas Wavelab 5 did not. If you upgrade from Wavelab 5 to 6, then you will need to purchase a blank dongle to store your Wavelab 6 license on.

The dongles sold on Ebay are probably the same as the blank ones that Turnkey are selling.

So I ended up buying cubase 4, cross grade version off ebay, and my felllow brother bought the upgrade

FYI, I'm not very happy with stienberg at the moment because I'm having problems with the software and like many others cannot update to 4.0.1 with my powerbook.

usa yhamaha has not replied to two messages that I've sent nor any moderators. I know programing is hard but I am poor and paid a few weeks salery for this software. I do love the software but wish I had more money to buy a better computer and wish the support was more like motu's.

good luck to all
