Hello,

I have been successfully running Mac 10.2.8 with Pro
Tools HD 6.1

Recently,I upgraded to Os X 10.3.9

Now my Pro Tools 6.1 does not work. Opening the app hangs system.

So, I tried to downgrade to 10.2.8, but did not
succeed. Put in a 10.2 OSx, but program did not allow me to downgrade.
I could not downgrade to 10.3.5 or any kind of downgrade.

Then I bought Pro Tools 6.7 software upgrade.

But each time I put the installation CD into the
CD-Rom,
nothing happens, the desktop shows no CD
icon. Go into Finder, there there is not CD-Rom icon.

What should I do?

thanks,
- VKhor

VKhor,

Digidesign has not yet supported 10.3.9

Although there have been a few that have not had problems
trying it, there are many that have had disasterous results,
and have had to re-install 10.3.8 or earlier to get PT working again.

Always, always check the DUC for compatiibility, etc before making any OS upgrades. Sounds like you may need to
reformat and reinstall from scratch....

I have PT 6.9 running on 10.3.9 but I suspect that I am just fortunate.

Good advice, go to 10.3.8 or 10.3.4. PT 6.2.2 or above will run on Panther.

I too am running PT 6.9 on OS 10.3.9

The only bug that I've encountered is that I must remove an external firewire hard drive before launching PT or it will crash.

Try getting the 6.9 upgrade before re-installing your system...

I'm running OS 10.3.9. w/ Pro Tools 6.4 on a G4 Powerbook 1.25GHz w/ 768 MB RAM. No problems here unless I have Nortons Anti-Virus on "Auto Scan" enabled then I cannot open previous sessions. New sessions work fine.
Guess I'm lucky

If you're on PT 6.4. upgrading to 6.7 and 6.9 is really something to think about. The menu improvements are well worth it. The organization and layout of the plugins is revamped to make sense finally.

Of course, if the upgrade price is what is holding you back then perhaps it is more sensible to wait until the impending 7.0 is released. That is most likely right around the corner.

Still, if you can get your hands on 6.7 you'll be glad you did.

PM me if you have further questions about the upgrade.

Kat
