I have a 733/G4 purchased last fall. Have 384 megs o' ram and a brand
new midiman audiophile 2496 card. Running 9.2.2.

I'm running it through a new Teac 30-watt compact amp to Cambridge
soundworks model six speakers. All in all a wonderful setup, but
there's just one problem: no matter what recording app I use, I get a
buzzing sound the minute I hit the "record" button. It's not a ground
loop... happens only when I try to record. Turning off virtual memory
didn't help.

I can record from CD's and other external sources just fine. The rub
happens when I try to record anything running iTunes or Real audio or
any other program that uses the soundcard at the same time.

I figured if I ran RCA cables to my amp's aux in and another cable from
the amp's audio out to the input jacks on my 2496 card, everthing would
work fine. And it probably does so long as I don't try to listen to the
sound while it's being recorded.

Is this just the way my sound works, or do I have a shabby card, or
maybe shabby memory, or a software conflict?

I've tried just about every imaginable combination of extensions
on/off.

I know I can always hook up my tapedeck to the amplifier and record
through there.

If anybody has any advice I'd be glad to hear it.
