I have a Titanium G4 Powerbook OSX with Garageband, Reason, and will grow into Logic. I have been shopping for a MIDI USB solution and have boiled it down to MIDI USB Keyboards or a MIDI keyboard with a Tascam US-122. The keyboards I've been researching are the M-Audio Ozone, Edirol, and Novation.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd like to get started with a budget of $250.

Besides the Edirol PCR-30 keyboard, You might want to consider buying the
PCR-A30 which has a built-in Audio controller.
I have this keyboard with a M-Audio 2x2 USB Midisport and a SD-20 sound module.

This keyboard can be used either very simply or in the most complex situations,
That's what I like about it. It has a lot of features that you can learn as you
become better at playing your keyboard.

I bought it because I didn't want to buy a cheap keyboard and then later move
up to a better keyboard, I guess what I'm trying to say is it's better to buy the
best you can afford first rather than wasting money on the cheapest you can afford.

The PCR-A30 has a steep learning curve, But in the long run it's worth buying.
