As far as smaller grade apps being compatible with higher end pro apps, Digidesign does it with ProTools Free and LE being able to be imported into ProTools TDM. Sure, not the other way around, but there is a place for an entry level app to go into a pro app.

The "Logic" behind this is that those who string together something in the smaller app might make a great conceptual piece that can be re-fitted as a polished release. My wife is a singer songwriter and I am a producer. While she gets a little frustrated with GB's limitations, she Soooo isn't wanting to go near Logic. She just wants to drag a few loops around until she can make something with the timing and expression she wants to communicate. She loves te ease of GarageBand. She wants me to "get" her idea and then make it from there. There are times I would like to just drag her entire working project into Logic and build from there. Just like friends of mine who work in ProTools Free and take those little projects to another friend who uses LE who then has the flexibility to master in TDM.

So the little app into a Pro app is not without precedent.
