I don't no any mixing facilities that use Mackies, but I hear there are some out there. I like the old mixers they used to make & some of the new ones. I am laid up in bed after a shoulder surgery and so I will spend some time to help you. Here we go..

The Hr626's were used on Post Prod. small rooms for the Matrix Reloaded, – used most recently on The Matrix Revolutions and the new Halle Berry flick Gothika. I am not sure if final mixes were done on them, but pre-post mixes possibly..you never know how much is hipe and the old "PR" machine!!.. As the previous post suggested, it is important to make an evaluation in a real world environment. I always first try and listen to each speaker in the sme room whereever that is at various volumes with mixes that you are ver familar with Then if you can get a pair into your space where you mix you stuff or work. Depending on your room accoustics a lower volume to mid volume is good to figure out stuff. Tech spec wise just compare the low end hz and high khz between the two. I have a friend in Germany that was looking at several monitors and was trying to choose between KRK and others. Then he tried soem Genelec's and never looked back. They have a proven track record on many hits records and projects in film and TV as well as major studios that I work in. If you have the money the Genelec's are probably the logical choice. There are always going to be people that go for Blue Sky, DynAudio Accoustics,(which were really used to mix Matrix Revolutions, or Quested Monitors which I think sound great for rock mixes..good client monitors, but I don't think they are transparent enough and can sometimes give you too much in the mids that should go in the sub...but that's just me.
My friend In Germany is thrilled with his Genelecs he got and got a good deal on them. His comment was and...he is picky..was "Well I wonder what I have been doing all these years.!!
Below some articles for you to see and hear. BTW I own currently 5 Genelec 1032A's and the matching sub and my room was tuned by the best Bob Hodas www.bobhodas.com and designed by Chris Huston www.chrishuston.com
Cheers, -G
