Hey musicians!! I've been working on trying to setup a decent studio to start out on... this is what i've come up with (i haven't bought the audio equipment yet though, i need feedback):

computer specs.... G4 933 w/1.25 gigs ram, 200gb hd space, OS 10.2.

-Cubase SX
-M-Audio Delta 44
-Behringer MX1604A Mixer
-possible affordable studio monitors ? (suggestions welcome!)

Ok this is how it would be set up - the delta 44 has 4 ins and outs, the mixer has up to 4 individual outs, I will assign the stereo output to one of the outputs on the delta 44, which will loop back into the mixer's monitor volume/headphone out.

I dont really use synthesisers because i play indie/punk music, so please, PLEASE tell me what you think of my possible future studio. I am very strapped for cash, so this is what I came up with, thanks to the help of the many music stores I've visited. Is there other programs suggested over cubase? Pro tools is out of the question because I can't afford any of digidesign's equipment... or can I? My price range is under $400... software not included.

Thanks,
Andrew Barden

Do you already own Cubase SX? Only reason I ask is that if you're really strapped for cash and are not going to be doing any MIDI work, you could save money by purchasing a lesser software app. How many tracks in total do you need? How many might you want in the future? If you only need like 32 tracks, there are cheaper options (Logic Audio via the Big Box comes to mind) or if only 8 tracks, much cheaper options (like Deck LE). Use the extra money to get an external firewire drive - recording on the internal drive (unless you have more than 1 to separate the operating system from the audio playback/recording), isn't recommended. Of course, if you already have Cubase, then I haven't offered much help tongue.gif
