I recently thought how cool it would be to type in a mathematical equation like you would in a graphing calculator, but instead of seeing the results visually, the program would find a pattern in the graph and generate a sound file based on that pattern. For example, if you input a sine function, it would find the repeating wave pattern and generate a sound file that had just that one sine wave. I know there are programs that generate specific waves, like sine, saw, and square, but I want to be able to use my own equations. I would then import the resulting sound files (wav or aiff?) into my music program (Melody Assistant) and make my own instruments with them. Thanks for any help.
