I'm going to be getting a new G4 system and running LAP. Any advice on wether it should be a dual 500mhz or one of the new single G4's?
Pro's and cons of a single vs. dual? Any advice would be great! Thanks! |

I'm using a dual 450 with LAP and it's been stunning. LAP is optimized for MP so all plugins are supported by one processor while the other deals with everything else. I've not yet run out of CPU in normal circumstances (that includes running 12 EXS24's and 2 Pro5's). The new processors, while faster, still can't match dual processors if the software is optimized to use them, and there are questionmarks about how good the new processors are anyway in terms of speed. with the added advantage that the outgoing MP models will now be cheaper. hope this helps.
