i have been reading a book on how to use logic audio. there is a section in the book describing a specific way to set up midi devices in the environment. it says to create a multi instrument and then create a port object and cable them together... the only problem is, i cant find where you create a port object. i pulled down the "new" menu expecting to find "port object" but it is not there. how do you create a port object?

i am using logic audio platinum version 5.5 for osx if that helps.

i think i just realized one of my problems in working in the environment... if i want to create an instrument in logic to represent my actual sound module, i would only create an instrument for every module that receives MIDI information, correct? for example, i have a MIDI controller that has no sounds internally, i just use it as a keyboard to trigger other sounds. then i have a drum machine which makes drum sounds and bass sounds. since the keyboard only sends MIDI data, i would not make in instrument for it in the environment, but i would for the drum machine because it does receive MIDI data.
