I am a complete newbie. I have just bought an Oxygen 8 Keyboard controller, and followed the set up instructions. I cannot get any sound. The instruction manual is very brief and unhelpful. I don't know how to make it work and have searched the net for help, but as I don't know what's wrong, I don't now what to ask. Can anyone give me some advice?

Without wanting to state the bleedin' obvious (although that's exactly what I'm about to do
![]() Basically, what is it exactly that you're trying to play with the Oxygen 8? On its own, the Oxygen 8 does nothing - it has no internal sounds. It only controls other Midi instruments, whether software or hardware. So if you're inputting Midi notes, then it IS working in some respects, but now it needs another instrument to generate the actual audible tones. I'm with you on the scant information in the Oxygen 8 "manual" (let's not get carried away here - "pamphlet" is a more accurate description), but it should be fairly straightforward. In OS X, literally plug and play. My Oxy 8 works, for instance, and I didn't do anything fancy. Assuming you DO have a virtual instrument within Metro, maybe if you ready a Midi track and select your chosen instrument, does it give you any options? Like what Midi track to send and receive on? Have you checked the websites for Metro and M-Audio? |
