hi, i just bought a 001 unit and i plan on running my 001 on a Mac, but now i'm worried because it's an older Mac! when i went to the digi site for Compatibility Specs i found out that older Macs need to be AGP Graphics and not PCI Graphic powermacs. I have an older Graphics model Dual Processor 450 mhz, but i'm not sure if it's PCI or AGP? any suggestions on how to figure this out? i hope i don't have to get another computer! thanks in advance for any advice.

I have been using my Digi 001 with a Power Mac 9600 and system 8.6! for many years now. I run Logic 4.5 and Pro Tools LE on this rig. My cards are all PCI and the rig works like a charm. You shouldn't have any difficulty with it. Your only serious consideration will be sufficient RAM. I was going to scrap that rig when I bought ny G5 and Digi 002 with upgraded Logic Pro and the latest LE version. However, I'm keeping it as a fall back rig for those inevitable days when the gods don't smile and a score is due real quick. Besides it helps keep my table from floating away, while impresssing the odd gullible client with a few more blinking lights and bleeping things.
Good luck, Jack McCann |
