I've got several dozen cassette tapes that I'd like to convert to mp3s for my own use. Most of them are around ten years old. I recently played a few of them on a little Panasonic all-in-one stereo, and they sounded "slow". Like the cassette just wasn't playing fast enough.

For Christmas, I got a brand new Onkyo tape deck, thinking the problem was with the player.

But now, listening to the tapes, they still sound "slow". I'm familiar with the music, and I know it should be faster and at a higher pitch (I'm a big music fan, but not that easy with the terminology).

My question is - did I waste my money on a tape deck, or can this problem be fixed after the music is recorded to my iMac?

Any and all advice/help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Brian
