newbie to computer recording here. i've been playing around in garageband and am enjoying it. i can get Logic Express at an educational discount, which is $150.00, or i've heard great things about Tracktion 2. same price, and with a gift cert. i can get it for $100.
anyone with experience with these? pros and cons of having one or the other?
i've got a G4 1 ghz, plenty of ram, which is pushing it these days. i know i can download demo versions, but i'd like to hear some opinions first.
thanks

Tracktion is OK (I've used both versions so far) and is pretty easy to learn, although considering it makes much of its ease of use, it still has its own funny, illogical ('scuse pun) little ways that you have to learn - which is eactly what people say about Logic. It's also pretty ugly. Decent software bundle comes with it, though, which is nice.

I'd personally lean towards Logic Express, though, as it just ties in better with your Mac and any future upgrade path you might take. Of course, you can always get a Mackie recording interface if you need one, like Spike or the new FireWire mixers, and get Tracktion free. Then you could buy Logic anyway and have both.
