How Much would you charge for a multi track digital recording, Any ideas on how to Judge cost. Any general advice for Doing on location recording for small bands. Any advice/stories would be great. any websites wih articles or stories of advce about on location recording/culture would also be great. Any ideas of finding a mentor in south lake tahoe and becoming a millionair?

I've been Recording Live Shows since 1986
because I like to and want to....
If you have experience thats cool, if not you're gonna have to do it free for a while to get that experience....so many bands are Taper friendly, they want to be recorded... you can do a google seard for Bands That Allow Taping (BTAT)
yes ther are so many considerations...
Are you working for the BAND? will you have an agreement...yes youalways have to be nice to the House Sound engineer, unless you'll be mixing you'll need them as a friend.
Areyougonna take direct outs fromthe House PA?
I run usuallyh a stereo Array ( a pair set 110° ORTF) on the front of the stage+ the House PA (with luck that's stereo) and do 4-track....
great results.
depends on whatyouand the band are looking for soundwise.

I do this for many bands becuse I love thier Music...
I have never figure out how to actually get paid to do this,if you do let me know...
I have helped many bands relesae current live recordings....
if your looking for Upand Comingbands...lets face it they have notmuch $ or a way to pay you....
somebands are now utilizing the Real Image Recording option...allowing fanz to leave the show with recordings of the nites gig...
what do you expect and want from this...
generally most bands that allow recording usually reserve the right to actually own the music....meaning if they come out with a live recording that THEY own the rights and not you...

you'll need somekind of contracts etc

good luck and
produce a quality product!
