Hello all,

I'd like to buy a brand new set up in order to record live shows as multitracks.
I'd like to know if some of you have ever done this kind of things.

I'd like to get a powerbook G4 1,5 Khz 15" + Motu Traveller (is this sound card great???).
I might need to record 8-16 tracks, for over 1H30.

What kind of gear/softwares do ya use?

Please, let me know.

Thanks.

barnee,

If you are going to use the MOTU Traveller (or the 828MkII; something to consider as it has a built in mixer and IMHO better front panel controls) it ships with AudioDesk 2 software for Mac OS X. As long as you are not using/relyig on any MIDI components in the recording portion of the performance, then AudioDesk would work well for you. Logic, MOTU Digital Peformer, Logic Express are all great apps as well and I have had really good success in recoring live takes of up to 16 tracks (mixing 16 drum tracks down to 4 for an actual 28 track capture on an external mixer) simultaneously.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
deacon
