Sorry if this post is in the wrong forum but I'm stumped!

Some one emailed me the answer to an internal sound card problem I was having (thanks Aireckzoser!) but does anyone know how to do this:

QUOTE
"That sound is coming from your powerbook, 9 times out of 10 you have the black
Powerbook, I had that problem before, and I found out that it was the OSX OS, to
get rid of the sound you have to reinstall your hold Operating system so I hope
you have OSX install CD.

The Problem came from trying to run a standalone VSTi using your
internal soundcard at 16bit."

Also please please help: if I do the above, will I lose everything on my computer???

If you drop the OSX install disk in - It will 'give you the option' of doing an archive and install when it detects an "operating" OS on your Mac...
Be Careful though! ie: READ EVERYTHING... I think the selections are on a "customize" page in the first or second screen...
It won't tell you - But you have to LOOK for it...

Lastly, I think the default is the "Archive and Install" selection...

This essentailly renames your personal folders and your preferences within the OS (For you old OS9'rs - "Unblesses the system folder"), Keeps them available on your hard drive - Then installs a fresh copy of OSX in the standard "folder name" of "system"...

Did this answer your question?
