POST#1:

The MOTU Midi Time Piece AV (MMTP) looks quite nice and has what “I think” I need to sync my Sony VTR to my 001.
Is this right? -->
I’ve got a black burst generator with multiple outs.
-Send bust out to both the MMTP and the VTR ref video ins.

-Send smpte time code (LTC) out from the VTR to the smpte input of the MMPT.

-From the MMTP I can then send converted LTC to my midi interface as MTC and simultaneously send out word clock to the 001 via the spdif input.

I think this would be a truly resolved system (genlocked?). The MMTP AV is about $500.00 bucks and half the price of the MOTU Digital time piece. Am I missing something or should I be leery of the MMTP AV? Why so cheap?

Right now I’m using a LTC to MTC converter box from Cooper which works pretty well except that I get drift after about 6 minutes. I need stable lock for scoring sessions that are anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour long.

Pas de réponse à ce post, mais le garçon avait plus ou moins répondu à sa propre question...

POST#2:

Will the MTC option drift in PT5 LE as it does in PT 4.0. I need some sort of way to sync my BRC to Pro Tools?

It won't drift if you have it resolved to a clock reference. You can feed the 001 word clock via the S/PDIF input.

Will my UNIVERSAL slave driver work to MTC sync a 001 system? It is universal right? as in "do it all"?
Thanks

You could send MTC to the MIDI input on the 001 interface but, last time I checked, word clock output of the USD is BNC only.

POST#3(issu d'une longue discussion...):

I have made a sync test with a Digital Betacam, using a Rosendahl Nanosyncs in order to have a spdif audio clock generated with a video reference, and using a Rosendhal MIF 3 as LTC/MTC converter, and it was working perfectly well.
I am sure that there are other combinations giving the same results...

POST#4:

Hi, i have a problem with my 001: i´m trying to synchronize it to a Studer A800 using an Alesis BRC to convert SMPTE to MTC. I´ve transfered a couple of tracks to a Mix Plus (with a USD), an everything went right...
The problem came when I opened that session on a 001 an tried to synchro to the BRC (with SMPTE from the Studer). The first events in the tape where right but after 10 mins. of playback the thing went wrong!!! seems that SMPTE/MTC conversion in the BRC is not working the way I wanted (everybody wanted). I´m working w/ 30 fps Non Drop.
Thanks everybody.

How are you resolving the 001? Are you feeding lightpipe in and clocking to it? MTC is only a positional reference, so you will need to clock your 001 using a resolved S/PDIF or Lightpipe source to remain in sync of long periods of time. Hope this helps.

There have been problems related to MTC after 10 min session.(Not sure where I've read it but it appears to be true) Personally I've only done 8 1/2 min songs with no problems. MTC apparently drifts after 10 minutes. I don't believe it's the BRC or smpte, I believe it's just the 10 min factor with MTC. Look into it, that might be the problem.

Voilà, en espérant que ça puisse t'aider.
