Hello everyone, this is my first posting and I'm sorry if I cound like a complete idiot!
I've just bought an iMac and a Roland PC-300 midi controller keyboard, and that's the problem!! What the hell do I do next? I've not bought any soft synths are anything else yet but I'm looking to use my set up to do composition and recording. ANY and ALL advice gratefull received. I've just downloaded the virtual CS-80 from the downloads section. It sounds lovely, but it'd be even better if I could play it with the Roland keyboard, rather than clicking on the keys with my mouse. I know this must sound incredibly naive, but I really am lost. -------------------- Current inventory

what you need now is a usb to midi converter. several are available from many manufacturers for as little as $30(US). M-audio, Edirol, MOTU, and Yamaha spring immediately to mind. and can be found at any major music retailer.

First off, if I'm not mistaken, the Roland PC-300 already has a USB interface. So purchacing another USB midi interface would be redundant, and totally unnessasary.
It would help if you would let us know what OS you are using. If you are using OS 9, you will need to down load OMS from Opcode, install OMS, intrall the driver for your keyboard, start OMS, and follow the instruction that come with it. If you are using OS X , you will need to set up the keyboard in Core Midi. I'm not sure how to do that, but if you do a search of this site you will find the answer. -------------------- kaboombahchuck
