Has anyone tried Logic Hit Kit? it's about 20 pounds (uk) and seems to come with a fairly complete version of logic. I wondered whether there were any snags. I can't find any reviews online. see http://uk.dk.com, it's sold by dorling kindsley

Well, I bought it, and it seems to be "Logic Fun" brought up to version 6, so MacOS X compatible. Quite nice, for 20 pounds.

Hi
I was interested by the £20 bit but couldn't find anything about it at the dk site.
Is this what it sounds like, a cut down version of the midi sequencer?
If, how many tracks and channels are there?
Does it save?
Does it really run well on OSX?
Looks promising.

It's limited to 8 audio tracks, no limit on the number of midi tracks as far as I can see. It can't export mp3s and you can't use VST instruments with it. But you can do score editing, and use the two instruments that come with it.
There's a big link to 'The HIT KIT: Steve Levine' when you go to the site. The dk site seems a bit funny with Safari. They quote 25 pounds when you use IE. But my local borders had it for 19.99, that's how I spotted it. Funny it's not mentioned on the logic site though.

Can you output to a good ol'-fashioned Midi soundbox via the USB ports? I have a USB keyboard to use as an interface. The reason for my interest is that I have a load of midi files I want to access (done originally on a system 7 mac) with an early version of Cubase. I've bought a new version of Cubasis but it will not run on my new iMac because it cannot boot up into OS9 and I'm too mean to buy a proper version of SX - it isn't quite important enough. Therefore your Logic version could be just what I need. Thanks for your post by the way.

On the box it says you can use a USB midi device; I havent got round to doing that yet. That is one of the reasons I bought this -- I bought a USB midi adapter and it doesnt work with OS 9.
