It wins many awards and its best attributes are it's ease of use and flexibility. Most likely the only sampler you'll ever need. Kompakt is, as you might guess a scaled down, dare I say 'compact' version, of Kontakt. It doesn't have as many features but uses the same awesome sampling engine. There is also a price difference too with Kontakt being about $400 and Kompact around half that.
