I know this is a Mac forum but I can't find a PC EZBus forum. Here is my question:
If I have the EZBus connected to my DAW via the optical cable to the EZ8 card (sorry guys), can I connect the usb cable from the EZBus to my other machine that I use as a midi sequencer? I appreciate any assistance. O.D.G. Industrial-Folk-Music |

Sure, I have 5 machines plugged into my EZbus! That and 2 samplers, one mike, a sound module and a keyboard.
Plug away, plug away :-) The ADAT input (from your EZ8) is perfectly independant from the USB one, you can have both working at the same time. And the S/PDIF too, of course. And the zillion other analogic inputs ;-) -------------------- |

Thanks for the advice. I'd like to put it to use BUT, ny EZBus was shipped defective! It would not power up. The only signs of like were the phantom power light would go on/off. So I sent it back. Anybody else reported problems like this????

Sorry to hear about yer problems ebenflood. Hope they get a good one sent back to you soon; it'll be worth the wait. Mine is chugging along merrily, and anyone wanting to take it out of here better bring black helicopters.

Thanks Levon,
I'm not too worried. I don't hold Event responsible. Anything could have happened during shipping. I'm just impatient!!! I can't wait to plug it in and do some recording. Do you know if the EZBus needs to be plugged in via USB for it to function as a controll surface. Going back to my first post; I wanted to hook the USB cable from the EZBus to one computer (MIDIand the optical cable to a second machine (Recording machine running Nuendo). It may sound stupid but it's a (Windows) workaround to get the MIDI ports on the EZBus to work. They wont work through the usb connection because my recording machine is running WIN-2000 BUT my MIDI/SoftSynth machine is running WIN-98SE. I know, I know! I wouldn't have these problems if I had a Mac. FYI, I made the switch from MAC to PC after my PowerMac 7100/66 became out-dated 1 year after spending $3000 on it! Anyway, thanks for your help. Hey there Ebenflood...
Just wanted to post and let you know that all MIDI controll surface aspects of the EZbus can be used across the standard MIDI ports (MIDI out 2, and MIDI out 3)...You can even pipe your MIDI that comes in thru the physical MIDI ports out thru USB...you will notice that if you have winME/XP your EZbus will have 3 drivers that can be used...there is USBmidi, USBmidi(2), and USBmidi(3). The USBmidi 2 and 3 are related to the physical midi inputs 2 and 3. Other than that I have a win98se machine that I control via the physical MIDI out 2 no problem. I just go through my little MIDIsport...Everything should work fine! |
